The UNENDING SUPPER is the Ancestral Circle is a nod and commentary on the limiting ideology of the last supper. In this installation the supper is unending because within the family circle there is no margin between birth, life and death and in this way African/Indigenous people are in an unending commune with our ancestors and descendants at every given time.

Ancestral Circle is an installation of sculptures and 9 chairs to signify the circle of life that all beings belong to. Within a family, from birth to death, the end of physical life continues as the dead become ancestors to the living and reincarnate into that same family. Within Ifa- the Yoruba belief system, people are born into families and when they die, they reincarnate into the same family.

The installation focuses on indigenous belief system of identity, spirituality and unity with respect for all life.

The installation invites visitors to sit within the circle and see themselves within their ancestors, their descendants and themselves in an unending circle. They are then invited to fill in note cards with the names of their ancestors and descendants and add to the bowl of life- a ceramic holder of all life (that corresponds to the ifa belief in the awo - ceramic holder of your ikin- your core.
